Guanacaste is one of the best places for mountain biking in Costa Rica, especially on the Tropical Trails Singletrack Mountain Bike Tour at Hacienda Guachipelin.

Some of the toughest mountain bike races in the world are held at Rincon de la Vieja Volcano in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Hacienda Guachipelin maintains 30 kilometers of shaded singletrack mountain bike trails with scenic views at Rincon de la Vieja – the only mountain bike trails in Costa Rica on an active volcano!

The Tropical Trails Mountain Biking Tour rides singletrack trails at the volcano on three different routes for all levels: Beginner, Intermediate and Expert. Altitude starts at 500 meters (1,640 feet). Well-shaded trails keep you cool, and being surrounded by nature gives you good chances of seeing wildlife. The route takes you to the Oropendula Waterfall, where you can stop for a quick swim.

Hacienda Guachipelin uses only high-quality mountain bikes and offers both hard tail as well as full suspension.

Beginner: 12.5 km ride (7.7 miles); Ascent: 5.5 km (3.4 miles); Descent: 7 km (4.3 miles); Duration 1.5 – 2.5 hours. Minimal experience is required for the Beginner Tour.
