Rincon de la vieja Volcano is the closest active volcano to the Papagayo Tamarindo beach area. The last eruption was in 1992. The crater is accessible only by foot. The hike up is approximately 3 1/2 hours. You must start as early as possible, being 7 a.m. the most reccomendable time to strat. We offer the service of experienced local guides that will guide you. Bilingual guides are available upon request.

One of the most popular trails in all Guanacaste. Definitely a must see. Lots of volcanic activity awating for you to discover it.

We offer 2 options of hot springs. The first, and most requested are the Volcanic Mud Baths and hot springs. You must experience the results of a treatment, the volcanic mud has exfoliating properties. You can reach this place by car or horseback.
The second option is the sulfur springs, located at the far end of Las Pailas Trail. The best word to describe the springs would be “invigorating”. The access is by foot or horse only. The durations is approximately 4 hours.

Rincon de la Vieja is not very famous for birdwatching, but you would be impressed, because the area offers more than 250 different bird species.

Hiking in the area is a good option. There are several trails heading to different attractions, like waterfalls, petroglyphs, rivers, jungle, etc. There are also trails with different levels of difficulty.
